Summary of Podcast

Crafted by two college professors who are no strangers to the universal force that is Hip Hop. DIGGIN IN THE CRATES’ will give listeners snapshots of the history and culture of Hip Hop that began the year of 1973 in the Bronx, NY. The show will focus on the basic elements of Hip Hop. The DJ, B-Boy/Girl, Graffiti, and the MC. While, also looking back at how Hip-Hop developed a mainstream audience with shows such as YO! MTV Raps on MTV and shows thereafter such as Rap City that aired on BET. Amid the elements, it will indulge in subjects such as artist sampling, beatboxing, MC’ing, different eras of Hip-Hop, and Hip Hop in politics. Listeners will be able to view the struggles and contributions of political thought through the lens of groups such as Public Enemy and the X Clan. DIGGIN’ IN THE CRATES will be a guide to the trials and tribulations of Hip-Hop. Taking listeners on a journey from August 11, 1973 to the present.

DIGGIN' IN THE CRATES Hip Hop Podcast is accepting new applicants for this upcoming school year! Diggin In The Crates was founded by two college professors who saw the need to provide students with opportunities beyond the classroom. This company has a goal to provide hands-on experience to students no matter the classification or major. It is paramount to help students find their calling by allowing them full access to the operations of our multiple shows. All applicants and accepted interns would be able to discuss their visions for their role in the company and compare them to what is being offered. This school year will only be focused on the shows that we currently have.

Diggin In The Crates wants, but is not limited to, 2 interns for Video Editing, 2 interns for Public Relations, and 3 interns for Production. These internships are open to Juniors and Seniors. Considering COVID-19 some roles can be discussed as being remote. Hours are flexible, with the understanding that school obligations are priority for each student. However, when signing the contract for internship retrieval the hours and responsibilities will be upheld to a high regard. Interns who work in the studio must come in business casual attire. The Hooker and McAdoo Show

Summary: Music based show that explores the past, present, and future of Hip-Hop. It is hosted by Ernest Hooker and Terrance McAdoo. This show is recorded weekly and includes in-studio interviews. Student interns will have the responsibility of writing the show’s scripts, recording and editing videos, and engineering the audio. 

Primetime Sports

Summary: Sports based show revolving around college and professional sports. This show is student ran and records weekly. Students will have the responsibility of recording/editing videos and engineering the audio.

Balanced Behavior

Summary: A relationship/lifestyle-based show centered around modern-day relationships and ways to improve them. This show is recorded weekly. Student interns will have the responsibility of writing scripts, recording videos, and audio engineering. 

DIGGIN’ IN THE CRATES HIP-HOP Podcast Content Writing Internship

 

Position Overview

DIGGIN’ IN THE CRATES Podcast is looking for a Content Writing intern that will assist podcast shows with writing scripts for the shows, developing engaging content for their social media and websites. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Creating new blog content based on SEO principles (A lot of blogging is directed towards building SEO).

  • Writing, editing and proofreading of all content including blogs.

  • Uploading and updating content on the blog and other social media pages.

  • Writing social media content like photo captions, infographics, and in-text for videos.

  • Planning the content strategy, creating a content calendar.

  • Assist with writing content for business collaterals like brochures, website, and pamphlets.

Requirements:

English, Communications or Journalism major

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Research skills

Thirst for knowledge and a desire to learn

Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

DIGGIN’ IN THE CRATES HIP-HOP Podcast Public Relations Internship

Position Overview

DIGGIN’ IN THE CRATES Podcast is looking for a Public Relations Intern this upcoming Fall 2019 Semester. This intern will work to inform the local Tri-state area about the Podcast and its events. The Public Relations intern will assist the Marketing and PR team with social media strategies, promotion of the podcast and shows. It’s essential that applicants to this position have strong communication skills, demonstrate creativity, be able to identify what makes for compelling news, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Create a branding campaign.

  • Conduct an informal focus group and gather feedback for market research.

  • Pitch story ideas to print, broadcast and digital media.

  • Collect and organize any media coverage.

  • Create and implement a fundraising strategy.

  • Utilize social media and develop strategies for web-based messaging.

  • Take on assignments as needed

  • Schedule and coordinate speaking engagements, appearances, photo shoots, and other special  events

  • Write press releases and other materials

DIGGIN’ IN THE CRATES HIP-HOP Podcast Marketing Internship

Position Overview

DIGGIN’ IN THE CRATES Podcast is looking for a Marketing Intern this upcoming Spring 2021 Semester. The marketing intern will work with the Public Relations department to assist the podcast in its marketing and advertising efforts. The marketing intern will help in identifying marketing needs, designing marketing materials and working with team members to evaluate current marketing efforts. Marketing interns use their educational background in marketing to assist the company while also learning on-the-job experience.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in the creation of signage, circulars, mock ups, email campaigns, online promotion, etc.

  • Assist in the distribution or delivery of marketing materials.

  • Assist with the fulfillment of marketing offers. 

  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of training materials.

  • Perform analysis of marketing and sales data.

  • Create and implement a fundraising strategy.

  • Seek and analyze competitor marketing and sales materials both on and offline.

  • Prepare presentations.

  • Provide support to social media efforts.

  • Monitor social media for trending topics to utilize on social media channels.

  • Maintain tracking report of marketing and public relations activity.

Requirements:

Sales, Marketing, or Advertising major

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

DIGGIN’ IN THE CRATES HIP-HOP PODCAST Film and Audio Internship

 

Position Overview:

DIGGIN’ IN THE CRATES Podcast is looking for an intern who can film and edit for the upcoming Spring 2021 Semester. This intern will film Podcast recordings and events that will take place and edit them as well.  Interns are expected to keep a schedule for when podcasts will be filmed, when they will be edited, and when they will be posted to the company's online channels. Knowledge of editing software (Avid,  Adobe Premier, Final Cut Pro) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes computer graphics and special effects for video post-production in accordance with the overall production concepts Compresses video projects for output; make video products available in a variety of formats; and coordinates internal and external duplication services as required.

  • Produce and edit video content that adhere to company guidelines and standards to share on online channels, including social media and YouTube.

  • Experiment with different styles and techniques of graphic design.

  • Oversee the quality of all audio and video editing.

  • Ensure the Podcast taping has a logical sequence and plays smoothly.

  • Can insert music or sound affects as needed.

  • Take on assignments as needed.

Requirements:

  • Film, Audio Engineering, Video Broadcasting, Journalism, or Communications major

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro CC

  • Proven problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and communication skills

  • Working knowledge of social media channels

  • Strong organizational skills
